Acid Punk For Your Ass

Acid Punk For Your Ass

Acid Punk For Your Ass

Ah, those people who want to separate art from politics because they can’t stand seeing solidarity spill onto the dancefloor. To them, partying should be a neutral space, a bubble outside the real world where everyone can enjoy their little moment of freedom without worrying about what’s happening around them. Above all, don’t take a stand and don’t rock the boat.

But music is political. Techno is political!

From its African American roots in Detroit and Chicago to the radical spirit of Underground Resistance, techno grew out of a desire for independence and resistance. Free parties carried that spirit forward: doing it yourself, organising freely, creating our own spaces, away from the usual rules and commercial circuits. T.A.Z. (Temporary Autonomous Zones): spaces of freedom we create together, if only for the duration of a party.

And when punk crashes into acid, it gets loud, it hits hard, and it pisses off the establishment.

That’s exactly the connection I wanted to bring out with Acid Punk For Your Ass. Not just a bunch of hard-hitting tracks thrown together, but a way to highlight the link between acid techno and punk, fuelled by the libertarian spirit of London’s underground scenes. I wanted the vocals to have as much space as the machines: lyrics that shout, provoke and make a statement, driven by relentless, repetitive acid lines, like electric guitar riffs soaked in distortion. A raw, unfiltered sound, where the punk attitude comes through just as much in the vocals as it does in the music.

With vocals from Doghouse on We Are The Freaks, Tiddles on Bitches Witches, Rachel Rackitt on Croydon Girl and Sicknote on Righteous, alongside tracks like Punk Attitude, Return To Acid, One Night In Hackney, Unlawful Rhythm, Banshee, Muy Punk and Command The Revolution, this mixtape brings together everything I love about the collision between acid and punk.

For me, partying has never needed to be neutral. It can bring people together, make them think, challenge them and give a voice to those we’d rather not hear. That’s part of what underground culture is about: a space for freedom that we build together, without asking for permission.

Acid Punk For Your Ass is my way of keeping that energy moving.

And above all, a kick up the arse of anyone who thinks art should shut the fuck up and stay neutral.

Obsession pour la scène acid techno londonienne.
Techno nerveuse. Attitude punk.

Lignes acides. Esprit punk. Mentalité londonienne.

It’s the raw sound of Minneapolis, fused with the visceral energy of London’s squats. Powerful acid, hypnotic basslines, an intense groove, and an underground trip that shakes the soul. A total immersion, where every pulse invites you to surrender to a sonic ritual.

MACHINE#3 – ACID TECHNO DJ SET
